Jon William Block

Jon William Block, born June 23, 1947, passed away on December 21, 2004.[1] He was laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Jon touched many lives with his kindness, dedication, and unwavering spirit.
Jon grew up in Denver and attended Denver South High School. From an early age, he displayed the intelligence and determination that would define his life. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam-era conflicts as a submariner in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed aboard the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Razorback and U.S.S. Stonewall Jackson. He was the first in his class to earn his “Dolphins,” a distinction awarded to those who master the complex systems and emergency protocols of a submarine.
After his military service, Jon built a successful career in the telecommunications industry, dedicating 25 years to the field before retiring in 1999. His work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Beyond his career, Jon found joy in coaching youth basketball, sharing his love for the game with the next generation. An avid golfer and a devoted Oakland Raiders fan, he embraced life with enthusiasm and humor. His appreciation for the beauty and culture of Jamaica reflected his adventurous spirit.
Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Deane Block, and their children, Jessie Ray Block and Andrew Block. He was a cherished brother to Paula Terry, Ted Block, and Pamela Cummins, and a loving nephew to Don and Carel Gabe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane Paul Block and Joan Pearl Putman. Jon William Block will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the passion he brought to everything he pursued. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
